Computer Specifications
To participate in IBDE, students must have a computer that meets the following requirements:
- AMD or Intel processor with CPU speed of 2.0 GHz or more
- Windows XP with Service Pack 3: 1 GB of RAM
OR
Windows Vista: 2 GB of RAM
(Please note that Windows 7 is currently under review. Please enquire if you have a Mac computer and operating system.)
Note on RAM: Less RAM will result in students experiencing increased frustration levels due to longer load times and the inability to have numerous programs and software running concurrently especially with regard to any graphics editing programs.
- 1.5 GB of available hard disk space (minimum) + more than 1/2 of your C: drive available
- Colour Monitor capable of running at a resolution of Super VGA 1024x768 or greater (Note: We recommend larger monitor sizes of 17” or 19” for a more flexible workspace.)
- Video card with support for DirectX 9 graphics and minimum 64 MB dedicated video RAM
- DVD drive
- Headset with microphone to participate in LIVE online classroom sessions
- Internet connection: high speed or cable connection
(On dial up? Please contact us.) Dial-up connections will result in difficulty partaking in LIVE class Elluminate sessions as well as receiving online remote assistance from instructors and downloading various programs and zip files.
